Tips on Designing your Bathroom

Your bathroom is one of the most used spaces in your home. It’s essential and used often throughout the day. Designing your bathroom with a look that is practical and yet inviting can be a challenge. What does the lighting look like? Should you choose large or small tiles? Are you OK with lots of cleaning or do you like to keep scrubbing to a minimum? Here are some ideas to consider when you’re ready to refresh the main office:

- Think Light Colors: Light colored subway bathroom tiles are all the rage right now. Plus using a light-colored tile can make even the smallest of bathrooms feel more spacious.

- Think Diagonal Bathroom Tile: Placing tiles in a diagonal pattern can give the illusion of a larger room.

- Rule of Three: If you’re looking for a unique tile pattern, stick to no more than three tiles that share the same color scheme. Using more than three can be distracting to the eye and make the room look gaudy. Two things you definitely don’t want!

- Think Upkeep: How often do you want to have to maintain the tile? A funny question to some, but it’s a good one! If you’re on the low maintenance side, sticking to porcelain or ceramic would be a good idea. If you’re down for a challenge, a more porous tile made from natural stone would be a good choice.

- Pick a Single Accent Piece: It’s fun to mix things up a bit when you’re designing your space - but be wary of going overboard. Choosing one design or color of bathroom tile as an accent is a great way to add some flair to your space without making it look messy or overdone. If you use too many bold colors or patterns together, it’ll look like they’re competing with each other.

Home design is fun! A challenge at times, sure, but a fun one! Revamping your space with a new look can give it a whole new perspective. Changing the tiles in your bathroom can lead to new accent pieces in your bathroom space as well, another way to change the vibe. The possibilities are endless. It just takes you to push go!
